UDF

UDF (Universal Disc Format) offers the possibility of using a blank CD to simulate a hard drive. Data can be burned a filke at a time by dopping and dragging it to (and from ) the CD under Windows Explorer. However, the blank CD must first be formatted (we used PackCD 3.01d) in order to do this. Fornatting time was measured first (red bars), and afterwards the burning speeds (blue bars).

The burner convinces here as well, delivering by far the highest speed. And though formatting takes a bit longer, it is still quicker than its predecessor.

Manual & Configuration

The manual is printed in several different languages, but only supplies the most basic information about how to install and use the drive. More information is available from the .pdf file included on the CD. Here there is a toubleshooting guide and some tips about burning with WinOnCD and formatting with PackCD, though we would have liked to see full manuals from the makers of these applications.

Mitsumi has included everything necessary in the configuration, but we would have liked a Play/Skip button as well as a DOS driver.
