Plextor Europe is one of the foremost manufacturers of CD-ROOM and CD-RW devices. Since opening its European offices in Brussels 1994, Plextor has released 14 generations of CD-ROM devices, and 6 generations of CD-R and
CD-RWs.
Plextor’s parent company, the Shinano Kenshi Corporation (SKC) of Japan, develops and produces cutting-edge computer hardware and precision electronic components. SKC was hounded in 1962, when it started by making precision motors for audio equipment. Today the company is one of the world’s largest manufacturer of small-step electric
mototrs.
Plextor’s list of OEM customers includes Micron, Gateway, and IBM.
The PleXWriter 12/10/32A writes CDs at a twelvefold rate, rewrites at a tenfold rate, and reads data at a 32x rate. It features BURN (Buffer Under RuN) Proof technology, which is advertised as bringing the rate of CD burn-failures to nearly zero.
